About the Research…
The collective results from extensive studies on the relationship between music education and early childhood development suggest that the ability to conceptualize music is one of several fundamental intellectual abilities that must be introduced in early childhood to have the strongest impact on future life. Research has shown that the neurological pathways stimulated as music is learned improves the development of other important abilities including language acquisition, listening skills, auditory discrimination, fine motor skills, and abstract reasoning. Furthermore, long-term studies have proven that music instruction in early childhood is instrumental in affecting significant enhancement in abstract reasoning and spatial intelligence, as this specific type of learning “primes” the brain for more sophisticated concepts such as mathematics and analytic thinking (Frances Rauscher, Ph.D, Associate Professor of Cognitive Development at University of Wisconsin).
Therefore, we have created a program based on these premises, combined with the notion that children will integrate music into their lives only if the experience is interesting, enjoyable, and allows their imagination to lead the way. This is what Music Preludes® is all about!!!
