The “Around the World with Music Preludes” Summer Program
“Around the World With Music Preludes®” is a summer program that invites children to take a thrilling musical journey around the globe where they will encounter the exciting sounds, styles, and dances of many interesting regions. This curricula is specially designed for children ages two through six and is focused on developing their knowledge of geography and the unique ethnic flavors of each region we visit. This is achieved by presenting a different country each week, focusing on the Ethnic Music, Traditional Folklore, Folk Songs and Dances, and Creative Art Activities indigenous to each country. In addition, children experiment with a variety of percussion instruments as they develop an understanding of Rhythm within the context of multicultural musical styles.
“Around The World With Music Preludes®” is currently implemented in the summer programs of many preschools that implement Music Preludes® throughout the school year. However, our summer program functions independently of Music Preludes®, introducing and reviewing music concepts in more of a summer camp style. Our summer program can accommodate children up to age 10, as our activities emphasize craft-making, dramatic play, creative movement and dance, and music-making, all designed to introduce a new geographic region and culture each week while remaining fun and age-appropriate.
Our summer program is facilitated in each school by of one of our music specialists who teaches the program to groups of 8-10 children for a one half-hour session each week. We offer the program either for a summer tuition paid by the parents (providing the school with a percentage of the net income), or for an hourly fee paid directly by the school. The tuition agreements vary according to each school’s preference. We are happy to provide free demonstrations throughout the school year and summer to introduce parents and educators to our program.
